CORE Group: Nutrition Working Group (Focus on Low-Income Countries)
The CORE Group is an association of international non-governmental organizations whose aim is to promote the health and well-being of children and women in developing countries. The Nutrition Working Group site gives links to resources and sites related to positive deviance, dietary guides, breast and complementary feeding, vitamin A and zinc, food aid management and to other technical reference materials.
Global Nutrition Series.org (Focus on Low-Income Countries)
The site supports the Lancet’s Series on Maternal and Childhood Undernutrition. Launched in January 2008, this series provides research evidence to support the expansion of nutrition-related programs in low-income countries. The site gives access to the Executive Summary, abstracts of key articles and other resources, and to signing up for email alerts of future materials via Free Registration.
International Baby-Food Action Network (IBFAN) (Focus on Low-Income Countries)
This organization aims to improve the health and well being of babies and young children, their mothers and their families through the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding and optimal infant feeding practices. The site contains information about the organization and its projects plus briefing papers, press releases and newsletters.
LINKAGES Project (Focus on Low-Income Countries) (French, Portugese, Spanish)
The LINKAGES project (1996-2006) was funded by USAID and managed by the Academy for Educational Development. It provided technical information, assistance, and training to organizations with the aim of improving child survival, growth, and development, and maternal reproductive health, reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission and increasing child spacing. The still-active website gives links to all its publications (including, fact sheets, counselling cards, training modules and technical reports).
Quality Assurance Project (QAP) – Job Aids on HIV and Infant Feeding (Focus on Low-Income Countries) (Kiswahili)
The site gives access to well illustrated ‘job aids’ for counselling families on infant feeding options – based on recent international guidelines but adapted to conditions in East Africa.
UNICEF: Nutrition (Focus on Low-Income Countries)
This site contains an overview of nutritional issues, particularly those related to children and adolescents in low-income countries (e.g. nutrition security, micronutrients, breastfeeding, emergency care). It includes links to UNICEF’s fulltext press releases and reports on these issues.
WHO: Infant Nutrition (Focus on Low-Income Countries) (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish)
This site contains links to fulltext publications on infant and child nutrition and feeding, and to related WHO sites on adolescent nutrition.
World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) (Focus on Low-Income Countries)
WABA is a global network of organizations and individuals dedicated to protecting, promoting and supporting the right to breastfeed. The site contains information about the organization and its programs plus brief overviews on key topics. WABA works in liaison with UNICEF.
